Dr. Michael Shin published in surgical textbook

St. Margaret’s orthopedic surgeon Dr. Michael Shin of Valley Orthopedics and Sports Medicine recently contributed to a chapter published in a renowned surgical textbook. The article, “Bicompartmental Knee Arthroplasty,” is in Insall & Scott Surgery of the Knee (fifth edition).

An online description of the book states, “Online and in print, 'Insall & Scott Surgery of the Knee,' edited by W. Norman Scott, MD, and 11 section editors who are experts in their fields, is your complete, multimedia guide to the most effective approaches for diagnosis and management of the full range of knee disorders affecting patients of all ages. Fundamental and relevant clinical anatomy, applied biomechanics, surgical principles, techniques, and illustrative diagrams make this book a bible for surgeons interested in knee surgery. From anatomical and biomechanical foundations, to revision total knee replacement, this authoritative reference provides the most up-to-date and complete guidance on cutting-edge surgical procedures, and is the largest collection of knee videos in one knee textbook. The International Knee Society endorses this book.”

Shin came to St. Margaret’s in August 2009 with his wife, Kristie, PA-C, Midtown Health Center, and this is the third book chapter he has published since that time. The other titles include: “Meniscal Debridement” in "Master Techniques in Sports Medicine" (First Edition) and “Acromioclavicular Joint” in "Physical Examination of the Shoulder: Making the Complex Simple" (First Edition).
