Alta Morris

LEE CENTER — Alta Eileen Morris, 96, of Lee Center died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at the Franklin Grove Living and Rehabilitation Center in Franklin Grove.

She was born Oct. 10, 1916, in Prosperity, Pa., to Albert and Emily (Grimm) Shriver.

She worked as a housekeeper for Katherine Shaw Bethea Hospital in Dixon prior to her retirement.

She was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Lee Center, where she was involved in the Ladies Circle and the Ladies Auxiliary. She was also a Rebecca and a member of Lee County Home Extension.

Survivors include three daughters, Donna (Sherman) Shaw of LaMoille, Sharon (Melvin) McNinch of Lee Center and Shirley (Dale) Barlow of Amboy; 14 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, David Morris; and one brother, Homer Shriver.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Lee Center with Pastor Jack M. Briggs officiating. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Dixon.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Preston-Schilling Funeral Home, Dixon, and from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church.

A memorial has been established to the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Lee Center.
