Stage 212 announces auditions for 'The Dixie Swim Club'

LASALLE – Director Ellen Marincic has announced auditions for Stage 212’s Spring 2013 production, “The Dixie Swim Club” by Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope and Jamie Wooten, will be at 7 p.m. Feb. 8 and 1 p.m. Feb. 9 at Stage 212, 700 First St., LaSalle. Callbacks will be at 1 p.m. Feb. 10.

Five Southern women, whose friendships began many years ago on their college swim team, set aside a long weekend every August to recharge those relationships. Free from husbands, kids and jobs, they meet at the same beach cottage on North Carolina’s Outer Banks to catch up, laugh and meddle in each other’s lives. “The Dixie Swim Club” focuses on four of those weekends and spans a period of 33 years.

Five women who can portray characters aged 44 to 75 years old will be cast. Those auditioning will be asked to read selected passages from the script. Familiarity with the script is not required to audition.

“The Dixie Swim Club” will be presented April 19-21 and April 26-28. Stage 212 auditions are open to all regardless of prior theatrical experience.
