CHERRY — A Cherry man was pronounced dead at the scene of a snowmobile accident in Colorado Monday.
Bureau County Coroner Janice Wamhoff said she was contacted by Delta County Coroner Kevin Lacy about the death of Michael Fonderoli, 32, of Cherry.
Wamhoff said Fonderoli and two friends were snowmobiling on a path near Paonia in Delta County on Monday morning.
Witnesses reported seeing Fonderoli’s snowmobile hit some sort of rock. The snowmobile flipped, went down a 6-foot embankment, and came to rest against Fonderoli’s side.
Fonderoli got to his feet and remounted the snowmobile, but then died minutes later. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:06 p.m. MST.
Wamhoff said an autopsy was performed Tuesday, and no cause of death had yet been determined. Abdominal blunt force trauma was listed at the preliminary cause of death.
