Mary Magnuson

HENRY — Mary Maxine Magnuson, 86, of Henry died at 12:38 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, at her home in Henry.

Mary was born April 14, 1927, in Bradford to Bryon and Bonnie (Hay) Allen. She married Roger Magnuson on June 30, 1946, at the Boyd's Grove Methodist Church, Bradford. He preceded her in death on June 22, 2002.

Surviving is her daughter, Connie, and son-in-law, George Kauffman, of Tiskilwa. Also surviving is her five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, Heather Kauffman-Peters and her husband Jim, and their son Matthew Peters, Heath Kauffman, Holly and Dave McClure, their children Keegan, Kavin and Cora McClure, Trevor Kauffman and Emily Kauffman, along with many nieces and nephews.

Two brothers, Harold and Howard Allen, and two sisters, Margaret Anderson and Mabel Hensel, preceded her in death.

She graduated from Bradford High School, Class of 1944.

Mary was a member of Henry Christian Church since 1946. She served her church as a Sunday school teacher, Bible Study teacher, elder and a deacon. She was a member of the Christian Women’s Club, Bureau County United Way Board and the Marshall-Putnam County Homemakers. She was a life-long homemaker and a farm partner to her husband.

She was a country girl that got to travel the world. She got to travel see Germany, Peru, Israel, Mexico, Hawaii and the British Isles.

Visitation will be fro 9:30 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Henry Christian Church. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with Brian Grose officiating. Burial will follow in the Putnam Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Henry Christian Church or to Passages Hospice.

Calvert & Johnson Memorial Home, Henry, is in charge of arrangements.
