Princeton DAR members meet in January

PRINCETON — The Princeton-Illinois chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution held its monthly meeting Jan. 4 at the Prouty Building. Jane Lampkin and Lois Peterson presented the program on the War of 1812, “The Town that Fooled the British.”

Regent Sharon Bittner led the opening ritual.

Prospective member guest Barbara Welch Robinson was welcomed.

The nominating committee presented the 2013-15 slate of officers for election. The officers will be installed in June.

Barbara Peterson reported she served as guardian on the Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. The Chapter monetarily supports the Honor Flight project.

The commemorative events chairman announced the 150th anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation, which took effect on Jan. 1, 1863. The new U.S. Postal Emancipation Proclamation stamp is now available.

Hostesses for the day were Lois Peterson, Mary Allen, Barbara Heuer and Jane Lampkin.
