Storm win freshmen tournament

Bureau Valley captured the Princeton Freshmen Girls Basketball Tournament Saturday at Prouty Gym, defeating Princeton and then St. Bede for the championship.

Savanna Brunoehler had nine points, Savanna Bell and Sam Stocking eight each and Savanna Dean seven for the Storm in the title game. St. Bede was led by Brianna Lau and Maty Nowakowski with nine each.

Against Princeton, Darcey Kepner had a game-high 15 points. Madison Menzel had 10 for PHS.

Kewanee defeated Princeton 42-41 for third place. Ivy Rhodes had 10 points for PHS and Michaela Strom and Hailey Schultz added seven each.

St. Bede got 20 points from Brianna Lau in a 48-46 win over Kewanee.
