PHS to compete in Masonic Academic Bowl Feb. 16
PRINCETON — Princeton High School students will participate in the 30th annual Illinois Masonic Academic Bowl Feb. 16 at Moline High School. The team is sponsored by the Princeton Masonic Lodge. The public is invited to attend the tournament which begins at 8:30 a.m. with the awards ceremony scheduled for about 3:30 p.m. Admission is free.
The Masons of Illinois sponsor this annual academic achievement competition of the IHSA-member high schools throughout Illinois. There will be more than 297 schools competing at 30 different locations in the tournament.
The Masons of Illinois award scholastic monetary awards to those schools finishing in the top four places at each sectional site. The sectional champion will receive $400; second-place finishers, $300; third-place finishers, $200; and fourth-place finishers, $100. The money is for the schools to be used for scholarships or for academic purposes.
