Perry Memorial Hospital receives award

PRINCETON — Perry Memorial Hospital in Princeton was one of seven hospitals from across a three-county region in Illinois, which recently received an “Award for Excellence” for addressing domestic violence, sexual assault and elder abuse as a public health concern. The award was presented by Illinois Health Cares, a state-wide health initiative working to educate and bring awareness about the adverse health consequences caused from direct and indirect exposure to violence.

Perry Memorial Hospital was chosen to receive one of these awards for their efforts in bringing educational programs to their staff and educational material to the community regarding sexual assault and domestic violence. This past year, several of PMH’s nursing staff attended programs regarding life after sexual assault and the negative health consequences of sexual assault. Perry Memorial Hospital also recognized Sexual Assault Awareness Month and Domestic Violence Awareness Month by offering educational information and resources for staff and visitors at the hospital.
