TISKILWA — Patricia Donovan Cotter, 90, formerly of Tiskilwa, passed away Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, at Tabor Hills Healthcare Facility in Naperville, where she has been a resident since Thanksgiving 2012.
She was born in Toulon, Ill., near West Jersey, on June 13, 1922, to Patrick Leo and Mary Jane Kane Donovan. She married Jeremiah “Jerry” R. Cotter on Sept. 20, 1947, in Peoria. He died on April 21, 2000. Her parents, five brothers, an infant sister and her son, Robert “Bob”, also preceded her in death.
Surviving are two daughters, Mary Jean Tarrant of Greenbrier, Tenn., and Janet (David) Anderson of Naperville; two sons, Christopher (Jackie) of Winnetka and John (Theresa) of Tiskilwa; 15 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She graduated from Kewanee High School and worked at Commercial National Bank in Peoria for five years. She was a co-owner of Cotter and Sons, Inc. (a grain bin construction and service company) for many years before retiring. She and Jerry also owned and operated the Cotter Farm south of Tiskilwa for over 50 years.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Tiskilwa, and its Altar and Rosary Society. She was secretary-treasurer of St. Mary’s Cemetery Association. She attended every baseball game, basketball game, track meet, concert and play involving any of her children. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Fiocchi-Jensen Funeral Home, Princeton, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial will at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Tiskilwa, with the Rev. Kevin Creegan and Deacon John Murphy officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Tiskilwa.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home, with a rosary service at 6:45 p.m.
