Basketball update

Lady Bruins reach title game; Storm tops PHS, Bruins trip L-P

The St. Bede Lady Bruins moved into Thursday's finals of the Spring Valley Hall 2A Regional, defeating host Hall 50-20 on Tuesday.

St. Bede (16-15) will face No. 2 Ottawa Marquette (18-9), a 71-26 winner over Princeton, at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Red Devil Gymnasium. PHS senior Makenzey Wilson was the game's high scorer with 12 points.

1A regionals: Top-seeded Putnam County downed Henry 65-16, drawing host Midland, a 41-36 winner over Flanagan, in Thursday's regional finals.

Monday night recap

Monday night was a winning night for the Lady Lions of LaMoille/Ohio and the Lady Devils of Hall in IHSA girls regional basketball play.

The Lady Lions beat Little Ten Conference rival Leland/Earlville 66-50 in 1A regional action at Serena. LO now meets top-seeded Newark at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Hall used some homecooking to top Bureau Valley 44-25 at the Hall 2A Regional. Next up for the Lady Devils will be top-seeded St. Bede at 6 p.m. Tuesday. Game 2 on tap Tuesday features Princeton vs. Ottawa Marquette.

Boys basketball

A pair of rivalry games on the hardwood Tuesday night saw Bureau Valley beat Princeton 54-50 and St. Bede trip L-P 76-69.
