Samuel Jackson

KEWANEE — Samuel N. Jackson, 78, of Kewanee passed away at 5:49 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, at his home.

He was born July 7, 1934, in Winchester, Ill., the son of Nicolas and Ethyl (Inskip) Jackson. He married Shirley (Stewart) VanDamme on Nov. 23, 1983, in Kewanee. She survives, as do children, Andy (Lori) Jackson, Randy (Kelli) Jackson, Jane Damn, Christy Jackson and fiancé Al Ehnle, Thomas (Dawn) VanDamme Jr. and Tammy (Stan) Johnson, all of Kewanee; his sisters, Hazel Fengle, Norma Dyer, Irma Calhoun and Charlotte Plasencia; his brothers, Gilbert, James and Nicholas Jackson; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Martha Jackson, Alice Click, Betty Dober and Cora Lene Lashbrook; five brothers, Carl, Edward, Franklin, Jerry and Rowland; and a daughter in infancy, Sandra Ann Jackson.

Samuel worked for John Deere until his retirement in 1991. He was a pet lover, who enjoyed mowing for people, going to the casino, fishing, camping, coon hunting and dancing.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee with the Rev. Paul Copeland officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
