Extension office will offer program on Feb. 21
PRINCETON — What is a dietary supplement? Should you take a supplement? Will a supplement interact with your prescription medication? Answers to these questions and more will be presented at the local leader lesson “Supplements or Food” sponsored by University of Illinois Extension – Bureau, LaSalle, Marshall, Putnam Unit.
Laura Barr, University of Illinois nutrition and wellness educator, will present the program via teleconference at 10 a.m. Feb. 21 at the University of Illinois Extension - Bureau County office, 850 Thompson St. in Princeton. This program is open to the public. Anyone who would like to attend should call the extension office at 815-875-2878.
Participants will be learning about vitamins, minerals, phytochemicals, nutraceuticals, probiotics and flavonoids and where these substances can be found in the foods we eat. Each participant is asked to bring a list of all medications and supplements they are currently taking.
