Lenten event

PRINCETON — Wendell Nelson will perform during Wednesday’s Lenten musical meditation and luncheon at the Hampshire Colony Congregational Church in Princeton. The meditation begins at 12:10 p.m. in the sanctuary and will end at 12:30 p.m. when lunch will be served.

Smelt and fish fry

HENRY — The Knights of Columbus in Henry will have a smelt and fish fry from 5 to 7 p.m. March 8 at the American Legion Building in Henry. The meal is an all-you-can-eat and includes smelt, fish, corn fritters, baked potatoes, green beans, coleslaw and beverages. Carry-outs are available. Tickets are $9 for adults, $4 for ages 6-12.

Book club meeting

PRINCETON — The First Lutheran Church of Princeton Christian Book Club will meet from noon to 1:30 p.m. March 12 in the church library at 116 N. Pleasant St. The upcoming selection is “The Diving Bell And The Butterfly” by Jean-dominique Bauby. The April selection is “My Descent into Death A Second Chance at Life” by Howard Storm. Taco supper

MINERAL — The Mineral Gold Fire Department will host a taco supper from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Mineral Community Hall. The event will also include a 50/50 and raffle.

Disabilities workshop

DIXON — Family Matters PTIC and the Autism support group will host a free workshop from 6 to 8 p.m. March 21 at Kreider Services Inc., 500 Anchor Road in Dixon. Workshop participants will learn how social skills are part of the Illinois learning standards, how social skills acquisition is addressed in an IEP and methods for teaching social and emotional learning.
