WALNUT — John Robert Pogliano Jr., 66, of Walnut passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, after a courageous and hard fought battle with gallbladder cancer.
 
He was born Dec. 30, 1946, in Morris to John Sr. and Darlene (Perry) Pogliano. He attended Coal City High School, graduating with the class of 1965. He married Lana (Watson) Pogliano on May 10, 1969, in Assumption Catholic Church in Coal City.
 
In 1972 he moved to the Walnut area. He was a lifelong farmer and owner-operator of his beloved 1975 Peterbilt, working part time for Northwest Illinois Construction Co. He was a Farm Bureau member and a member of Teamsters Local 722. In his youth John was active in 4-H, having much success showing Hereford cattle. John enjoyed playing softball, bowling and snowmobiling. He was an avid Bears and NASCAR fan. John loved his oldies rock-in-roll music. John was the owner of a 1979 Chevy 4 X 4 truck which he proudly showed at area car shows. He cherished the time he spent with his children and grandchildren.
