Hall freshmen win Princeton Invite

Hall defeated host Princeton 42-40, to capture the 16th annual Freshman Boys' Basketball Invitational at Princeton Saturday.

Chris Ballerini and Drew Pullam each netted 14 points for Hall. Levi Bates led PHS with 20 points and Isaac Salazar added nine.

St. Bede topped Bureau Valley 43-31 for third place. St. Bede was led by Nathan Bartley, 11, and Max Moskalowicz, nine. Trey Dale had 18 points for BV.

Hall opened with a 41-34 win over Bureau Valley. This time, Ballerini shared scoring honors with Brian Bernardoni with 10 points. Dale had 17 for the Storm.

In the first semifinal, Princeton defeated St. Bede 47-33. Skye Behrends had 14 points and Bates had nine. For St. Bede, Joe Arriaga had 16 points and Baylee Hopps 10.

Henry 63, DePue 34: The Mallards improved to 6-2 in second place in the Tri-County Conference behind Putnam County (7-1) with Friday's home victory. Nathan Helle led the Mallards with 23 points and Ryan Condit added 18.

The Little Giants were paced by Austin Zimmer (12) and Isaac Reyes (10).

Henry also beat Stark County 45-39 on Saturday.
