SOMONAUK - The St, Bede Lady Bruins and Aurora Christian Eagles have taken the floor for warmups of tonight's IHSA 1A sectional semifinals at Somonauk High School. 8:00 now showing on clock.

I must admit my first thoughts walking into this gym come from 11 years ago when the Bureau Valley Storm played Stillman Valley for the boys sectional championship. BV's Brandon Bowman was viciously thrown to the floor and knocked out. Sadly, last week we lost Brandon, much too soon at age 29. His memory lives on with all his teammates. RIP Brandon!

End of 1st: SBA 13-7

Don Beebe, the man with six Super Bowl appearances is in the house. He's football coach at AC. I wonder if Leon Lett still has nightmares from the Super Bowl with Beebe.

Halftime: SBA up 28-19.

Third quarter: AC has rallied to tie the game at 33 at quarter's end.

Final: St. Bede 47-41. Big Mo Dean is unstoppable, scoring 12 of her game-high 25 points to lead the Lady Bruins into the Sweet 16 in Thursday's sectional finals against the winner of tonight's second game between Riverdale and Byron, two powerhouses.Byron, coached by Hall alumnus Eric Yerly, leads big at halfttime.

Class 1A

At Oglesbly: Annawan continued its postseason march, but Putnam County saw the curtain close on its season Monday in the Oglesby Sectional at IVCC.

The Bravettes, ranked No. 2 in the state, derailed Newark 46-21. PC fell to Hinckley-Big Rock 42-30 in the night's opener.

Annawan and HBR will meet for the sectional championship at 7:30 p.m. Thursday on the Hilltop.
