At Bureau Valley (2A)
Team to beat: Seneca (22-4).
Watch out for: St. Bede (21-5), BV (18-12).

BCR Insider: St. Bede looks for its first regional championship since 2000 and is the best bet to upend top-seed Seneca. Don’t overlook the Storm, however, playing on its homecourt and having a solid season under rookie coach Jason Marquis, a former Storm cager. Seneca boasts three players in double figures in Jr G Conlan Callahan (14 ppg), sr G Peyton Schrag (11. ppg) and Sr G Jimmy David (10).
Last year’s finals: Riverdale 53, Bureau Valley 31; Fieldcrest 60, St. Bede 52.
Advancement: Winner goes to the Byron Sectional to face the Savanna Regional winner at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 27. Sterling Newman is the No. 1 seed at Savanna. Other regional feeders come from Westmont (Elmhurst IC top seed) and Oregon (Winnebago No. 1 seed).

At Savanna (2A)
Team to beat: Newman (22-4).
Pairings: Monday - Game 1: (4) Fulton (6-23) vs. (5) Morrison (4-25), 7:30 p.m. Wednesday - Game 2: (1) Sterling Newman vs. Winner Game 1, 6 p.m. Game 3: (2) Riverdale (14-13) vs. (3) West Carroll (9-19), 7:30 p.m. Friday - Title: Winners 2-3, 7:30 p.m.
BCR Insider: Three Rivers runner-up Newman is the prohibitive favorite facing a field of three TRAC foes. The Comets were regional champs in 1A a year ago, as a result, bumped this year by the enrollment multiplier. Only one other team, Riverdale, has a winning record.
Last year’s finals: Newman 76, Erie 56.
Advancement: Winner goes to the Farmington Sectional to face the Bureau Valley Regional winner at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 27.

At Rockridge (2A)
Team to beat: Rockridge (20-4).
Watch out for: Kewanee (21-4).
Pairings: Monday - Game 1: (4) Aledo Mercer County (17-9) vs. (5) Sherrard (6-19), 7:30 p.m. Wednesday - Game 2: (1) Rockridge vs. Winner Game 1, 6 p.m. Game 3: (2) Kewanee vs. (3) Orion (17-11), 7:30 p.m. Friday - Title: Winners 2-3, 7:30 p.m.
BCR Insider: The Three Rivers champion Boilers will have to go through two future TRAC foes, Orion and top-seeded RR, to make it. Rockridge has a solid 1-2 punch in 6-7 Jr. Ethan Happ (23.5 ppg, 13.5 rpg, who is headed to Wisconsin, a 6-3 So. Bryan Heath (18 ppg). Kewanee has the best freshman around in Donovan Oliver.
