Kewanee tops BV, caps 14-0 TRAC run

Bureau Valley may be the Storm, but Kewanee brewed up the perfect Storm in the Three Rivers Conference this boys’ basketball season.

The Boilers capped a 14-0 run through the TRAC with a 49-44 win over the visiting Storm at Brockman Gym in Kewanee Tuesday.

Ryan Hicks’ three-pointer gave the Boilermakers a 34-32 lead after three quarters. Freshman Donovan Oliver took care of the rest, scoring 10 points in the fourth quarter to carry the Boilers to victory.

The Storm enjoyed a good start, leading 8-2 and 16-10 at quarter’s end. Kewanee tied the game at 19 at halftime.

Sophomore guard Parker Neuhalfen led the Storm (18-12, 7-2) with 15 points and classmate Tommy Johnston added 10 points.

For Kewanee (21-4), Dalton Nuding had 14 points and Oliver tallied 12.

Williamsfield 77, DePue 53: Jose Raya and Alex Lopez each scored 16 points for the Little Giants in defeat Tuesday at DePue.
