Charles Young

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — Charles "Chuck" Young, 76, of  Alexandria, Va., formerly of Sheffield, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, at Inova Hospital in Alexandria.

He was born in Buda on March 7, 1936, to Guy and Lillian (Turner) Young. After the death of his mother, he and his brother were raised by their uncle and aunt, Ray and Effie Cunningham of Sheffield. Chuck graduated from Sheffield High School in 1955 and attended college for a year at Northern Montana State. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1958 and served in the Submarine Service until 1968, at which time he joined the U.S. Naval Maritime Intelligence, retiring in 1992.

He is survived by his brothers, Keith (Gene) Young of Sheffield, Marvin Cunningham of of Cascade, Mont., and Phil (Donna) Cunningham of Princeton; a sister, Maureen Turner of West Palm Beach, Fla.; a special friend, JoAnn Decker, and his goddaughter, Laura, of Alexandria, Va.; and many cousins.
