Charles Allen

PRINCETON — Charles Kenneth Allen, 92, of Princeton passed away on Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, at Perry Memorial Hospital.

He was born on Aug. 11, 1920, in Buffalo, Ky., to Marvin and Cazzie (Warren) Allen. He attended school at Mount Tabor. He was a well-known carpenter in Bureau and surrounding counties.

Charles married Gracie Myrtle Sprowles on Feb. 6, 1946. She died on Dec. 26, 2004. Charles was also a World War II Army veteran. He was a member of the Wyanet V.F.W., the Princeton Elks Lodge and was formerly on the Wyanet Village Board.

Charles is survived by two grandsons, Keith (Darlene) Profita of Monument, Colo., and Kent Profita of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; four great-grandchildren, Kyle, Taylor, Jake and Spencer; one son-in-law, Charles Profita of Fort Pierce, Fla.; several nieces and nephews, including his niece, Mona (the late Jerry) Cruse of Princeton; one sister-in-law, Lillian Allen of Hodgenville, Ky.; a several great-nephews, great-nieces, great-great-nephews and great-great-nieces, including David (Shanna) Cruse, Christina Cruse, and Marissa and Jaxon Cruse.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Karen Profita; and his siblings, Pearl (Jim) Cruse, Harvey (Elva) Allen, Elsie (Robert) Cruse, Ruel (Catherine) Allen, Thelma (Homer) Peters, Leaman (Dorothy) Allen and Haynes Allen.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Norberg Memorial Home, Princeton, with the Rev. Jon Olinger officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery, Wyanet, with military rites performed by the Wyanet V.F.W.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
