Genealogical society meets on Thursday

PRINCETON — The Bureau County Genealogical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Society library, 629 S. Main St. in Princeton.

The program will be the fourth installment of the series titled “A People Disappears” from the DVD series “Germans in America.” This program focuses on ethnic groups who tried to suppress their identities during the war years. One featured story is of a Jewish-German couple in exile and another is about an ordinary guy who fled the Nazis and ended up in an American POW camp. The meeting is free and open to the public.

BCGS records show that during 2012 there were 538 visits made to the genealogy society and represented visitors from 24 states. The membership for the year reached 505 from across the United States.
