KEWANEE — The Henry County Genealogical Society will meet at 1:30 p.m. Monday in the second-floor meeting room at Kewanee Public Library. An elevator is available at the First Street entrance. Betty Sullivan, quarterly editor, will present a program titled “Chance, Coincidence and Accident in Genealogy Research.” She has been researching genealogy for the past 31 years, and has experienced many such incidents over the years that she will share. Everyone is welcome.
LADD — A chicken dinner to benefit Ladd’s Community Center will be from 2 to 5 p.m. March 10 at the center, the former St. Benedict’s Parish Hall. JT’s fried chicken or baked chicken, spaghetti, salad, dessert and beverage will be served. Tickets are $10 and will be sold at the door. A bake sale and 50/50 raffle will also be featured. TAMPICO — The Tampico Lions will serve a pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 3 at the Tampico Middle School. This all-you-can-eat breakfast will include pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, milk, coffee and orange juice. A donation will be taken at the door.
LAMOILLE — The LaMoille Lions Club will host an all-you-can-eat pancake and sausage breakfast from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday at the Club, 308 Howard St. Tickets are $6 for adults, $4 for ages 5 through 10. Proceeds will go to the Clarion Comets 4-H Club.
DAR to meet
PRINCETON — The Princeton chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will meet at noon March 1 at First United Methodist Church, 316 S. Main St., for the annual Youth Day luncheon honoring area high school DAR Good Citizens and the DAR American History Essay Contest students. Father Dominic Garramone, St. Bede Academy drama and religion instructor, will present “American History and Your History.” Chapter members can call 815-875-4127 by Feb. 23 for reservations.
Fish fry and baseball sign-up
