PAC will offer a variety of classes and workshops starting in March

PRINCETON — In an ongoing effort to enhance participation in activities at the Prairie Arts Center, the Prairie Arts Council will offer a variety of classes and workshops throughout the year. Upcoming classes and workshops for the month of March include jewelry making, floral design and working with design techniques on fiber.

The first class offered in March is a jewelry class. Students will create a necklace using a combination of antique beads and semi precious stones. Instructor Kay Cushman will share her life-long interest in collecting antique and Czechoslovadian beads. Students will learn the history of glass beads. This class is intended for the more experienced student in jewelry making. This is a two-session class with each session lasting two hours. Jewelry making tools will be available, however, students are asked to bring their own if they have them. This class will be March 12 and 19 from 6 to 8 p.m. The registration deadline is March 8. The cost is $30 for PAC members and $34 for non-members. There is also a $25 supply fee payable to Cushman at the first class.

Cushman is a life-long collector of glass and antique beads. She attended jewelry making classes at the Chicago Art Institute and was trained under the direction of a designer from the Guggenheim in Germany.
