HCCA art and music seminar set for March 18

LASALLE — Many members and guests of the Heritage Corridor Community Associates enjoyed their annual Valentine luncheon and lecture on Feb. 12 at the Uptown Bar and Grill in LaSalle. After lunch, a lecture was given by Terah Walkup from the Art Institute of Chicago. She shared her knowledge of the art of the Rococo period.

On March 18, members and friends will travel by bus to Chicago for an event that is held every year. It is always a greatly anticipated presentation. The journey will take participants to Symphony Center. The Art and Music Seminar will explore the unique relationship of Picasso and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Stephanie D’Alessandro, a curator at the Art Institute, will guide the group on this musical journey along with members of the symphony. An optional lunch will follow the program. The deadline reservations is March 8.

HCCA is one of 16 Community Associate groups in the Chicagoland area. The Community Associates is a non-profit organization whose goal is two-fold: to encourage membership in the Art Institute of Chicago and to support adult education in the visual and fine arts. They are always seeking new members. No artistic background is necessary. For more information about HCCA, contact Susie Meehan at 815-524-3396 or email sifmeehan@yahoo.com.
