Sorenson to exhibit art at Eureka College

Breanna Sorenson of Princeton will display photographs and other art works at Eureka College’s Burgess Hall Art Gallery Feb. 27-March 27.

EUREKA – Eureka College senior Breanna Sorenson of Princeton will exhibit photographs and other works celebrating life’s major moments Feb. 27 through March 27 at Burgess Hall Art Gallery at Eureka College.

A reception for Sorensen will be from 3 to 5 p.m. March 6 in the gallery.

The exhibit, titled “Life Living,” will feature seven black and white photographs of Sorenson’s family and friends, nine color photographs of the artist as different characters and more black and white images on glass, Plexiglas and fiberglass.

A native of Sterling, Sorenson attended Bureau Valley High School and graduated from Annawan High School in December 2009. She studies art at Eureka College and is a member of Delta Zeta social sorority. She will graduate in May.

Sorenson’s work has been influenced by her grandmother, Rozie Sorenson; art teachers Sheila Heth, Al Johnson and Dan Hakes; professors Chad Jones and Rhea Edge; and photographer Cindy Sherman.

The Eureka College gallery is located on the third floor of Burgess Memorial Hall, 300 E. College Ave. It is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and by appointment by calling 309-467-6866. Admission is free.
