Lee Waugamon Sr.

PRINCETON — Lee J. "Slatz" Waugamon Sr., 76, of Princeton passed away Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013, at Perry Memorial Hospital in Princeton.

He was born Nov. 1, 1936, in Conway, Ark., to Odes C. and Lilly J. (Sisson) Waugamon. He graduated from Bigelow High School in Bigelow, Ark. He married Constance "Connie" Jefferson on July 30, 1955, in Putman. She died in 2008. Lee worked for the Union Pacific Railroad, retiring in 1998. After retiring he was a greeter at Walmart and drove cars for Browning Ford. Lee was a life-long Mason, and a member of IBEW and the Moose Lodge. He was the former mayor of Bureau, involved with the Bureau Fire Department and was a Democratic Precinct Committeeman. Lee also enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting and trapping.

Lee is survived by his children, Lee (Vivian) Waugamon Jr. of Princeton, Dale (Paula) Waugamon of Princeton, Peggy (Tim) Shipp of Bureau and and Jeff (Leslie) Waugamon of Seatonville; his grandchildren, Lee (Ginger) Waugamon III, Jill Waugamon, Abby Waugamon, Jared Waugamon, Tiffany Shipp and Samantha (Marc) Philhower; his great-grandchildren, Colton, Connor, McKenzie and Van; and a special friend, Virginia Smith.
