Connor Etheridge receives Eagle badge

SPRINGFIELD — Connor J. Etheridge, 16, of Springfield recently received his Eagle badge.

Connor is the son of Steve and Sandy (Lootens) Etheridge of Springfield. He is the grandson of Shirley and Raymond Lootens of Manlius, and Bonnie and Dave Etheridge of Ohio.

Connor belongs to Troop 97. His unit sponsor is Sugar Creek United Methodist Church, and his unit leader is Bob Tregoning. He was an assistant senior patrol leader, patrol leader and chaplain’s aide. His national Scout activities included hiking the Grand Canyon in June 2009. He was in Order of the Arrow and has earned 25 merit badges. He is affiliated with the Blessed Sacrament Church. He is a junior at Sacred Heart Griffin School.

Connor’s school activities and offices include: Student Council for two years; student ambassador for two years; Fellowship of Christian Athletes for three years; small group leader for two years; Snowball for three years and county leader for two years; varsity golf team for three years, all-conference for two years; academic all-conference for two years; honorable mention all-conference for one year; captain for one year; varsity baseball team for two years; JV baseball team for two years and captain for one year; JV swim team for one year; captain for one year; and CYO for three years.

His community-school-church service hours total 304.

For the Eagle Scout project, he helped install a ceramic tile floor in the office area of St. Martin de Porres Mission Center. With this, he constructed a ramp where there once was a small step between the entryway and office. To finish, they painted and recovered benches they use in everyday operations.
