Giving ‘5’ for the hungry

SPRING VALLEY — The Hall Township Food Pantry has initiated a “Give Me 5” program in an effort to meet the needs of its patrons and their children.

“Later tonight – today, or right now – we challenge you to go to your cupboard or favorite grocery store and find five items that you can donate to the pantry,” said Director Jan Martin. “Then, we urge you to tell five friends or relatives to do the same.”

For more information on the “Give Me 5” program, call the pantry at 815-663-2085 or stop by 500 N. Terry St., Spring Valley. Martin said items of greatest need include canned meat, stews and soups, peanut butter, jelly, rice, pasta, cereals, fruit juices, boxed meal helpers, pancake mix and syrup, canned fruits and bottled water.
