OHIO — There will be a chicken dinner fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Sip N’ Snack in Mendota. Tickets are $7 and are available at the library or from any library board member. There will also be raffle items, a 50/50 drawing and bingo at 1 p.m.

SHEFFIELD — The Sheffield Public Library will host a weekly story hour during March and April for children ages 3-5. A specific day and time will be set after registration. Please call librarian Sue Lanxon at 815-454-2628 or 815-454-2592 to register your child.

In addition, the library would like to start a monthly book club. Interested adults should call either phone number.

LADD — The Ladd Public Library is currently holding a used book sale. The selection of books include many titles by best selling adult authors, as well as some children’s books. Hardcover books are 50 cents, and paperbacks are 10 cents. The book sale is open in the lobby during regular library hours.

The library has copies of the cookbook, “A Taste of Ladd” available for purchase. The cookbook contains nearly 500 recipes submitted by area residents, compiled in a three-ring binder format. The cookbooks are $14 and are available at the circulation desk.

The library continues to hold its monthly adult book club on the first Monday of each month. New members are always welcome. The selection this month is “Girls in White Dresses” by Jennifer Close. Copies are available at the circulation desk.

The library staff is beginning to prepare for the summer reading program, “Have Book will Travel.” The staff is planning to have displays of various postcards, so if you have any that you would allow the library to use, or even just make a copy of, it would be most appreciative.

The library continues to hold its preschool story times at 10:30 a.m. on the first and third Mondays of each month. The program is designed for 3 to 5 year olds with a parent or guardian. Each session consists of stories, activities and a craft.

PERU — The Peru Public Library holds a story time for children ages 3 to 5 at 10:30 a.m. every Wednesday. Children hear stories, sing songs, dance and learn finger plays. Registration is not required. For more information visit www.perulibrary.org or call 815- 223-0229, ext. 5.
