Schwab, Murray earn Arrowhead Conference
Illinois Valley Community College’s sophomore guard tandem of Alec Schwab and Michael Murray have been honored by the Arrowhead Conference.
Schwab of Peru, a graduate of St. Bede Academy, was named first team all-conference and Murray, a Princeton High School graduate, was named to the second team.
Schwab averaged 21.3 points and 6.3 rebounds in conference and Murray averaged 14.2 points and 9.3 rebounds while shooting 53 percent from the floor and 78 percent from the free throw line.
The 2013 co-BCR Athletes of the Year have been teamed up for quite the 1-2 punch for the Eagles, especially of late. Murray had 20 points with 15 rebounds while Schwab added 19 points in Saturday’s 82-77 win over Olive-Harvey. The game they combined for 48 had Murray firing in 28 in an 85-81 win at Black Hawk East on Feb. 21.
• Two area players met on the hardwood at Monmouth College on Feb. 16, wrapping up their senior seasons on the hardwood.
