Ladd Village Board

LADD — The Ladd Village Board took action on the following items at its meeting Feb. 12:

• Accepted the quote of $11,485.90 from HD Power Solutions to purchase a truckload of power poles.

• Decided to advertise for bids on a three-year sewer cleaning contract and a three-year generator maintenance contract.

• Stated their preferences on the three different styles of LED lighting installed at various intersections and suggested that the complete lights be purchased rather than the retrofit packages.

• Heard the new squad car loan has been paid off and the older squad car has needed numerous repairs with parts becoming difficult to obtain. Chief William Gaefcke said he would like to begin shopping for a new squad car in June.

• Heard John Darnell and Jeremiah Holt have been hired as part-time police officers.

• Reviewed a draft of an Internet and Telecommunications Policy for village employees.

• Approved donations of $100 to Citizens for a New Hall High School; $100 to Ladd Youth Baseball for a new banner; and $25 to Illinois Valley Center for Independent Living for a Trivia Night fundraiser.

• Heard Audrey Thompson is planning a March 10 chicken dinner to benefit the Ladd Community Center.

• Heard the Ladd Community Improvement Association (CIA) will disband as of Feb. 28. The members will continue with plans to replace the east doors on the Community Center and with the renovation of the Kennedy Park sign.

• Heard the Ladd Men’s Club will sponsor Summer Fest to be held on July 12-13.

• Heard the Ladd Men’s Club plans to sweep Main Street April 27 in preparation for the Convoy Against Cancer Big Truck Show May 4.

• Heard that Rip’s was to be featured in a story on the Channel 8 News.

• Heard that union contract negotiations with the street department employees are at an impasse so a federal mediator will be in to help resolve the issue.

• Heard the contractor has paid for damages done to two Frontier phone cables during one of last summer’s water main replacement projects.

• Heard the village received a settlement of $5,095.66 as part of a class action lawsuit against Syngenta Crop Protection.
