Lois Long
WALNUT — Lois Ann Long, formerly of Arlington, Texas, and Nashville, Tenn., died Saturday, March 2, 2013, at Walnut Manor in Walnut.
She was born Nov. 4, 1928 in Dixon, the daughter of Roy and Lola (Fischer) Long. Ms. Long grew up in Amboy and graduated from Amboy High School. After graduating from business school in Chicago she worked for American Airlines at Chicago Midway, then American Reservations Center in Tulsa, Okla., and finally American Operations in Dallas, Texas. Ms. Long retired from American after 40 years of service. During her career she traveled the world over several times and visited six continents.
A lover of music and arts, she was active in her church choir and bell choir, and volunteered at the Dallas Ballet, Dallas Opera Shop, the CR Smith Museum in Dallas, Texas, as a Flying Ace at the Nashville,Tenn., airport, the Nashville Parthenon Museum, and Brentwood, Tenn., United Methodist Church. She was a member of Red Oak Methodist Church in rural Walnut. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Red Hat Ladies and the American Airlines Three Diamond Club.
