A trip down Memory Lane

Father Patrick Fixsen submitted this early picture of the Dalzell baseball team from 1912, run here as a small gift from Holy Trinity Cherry to St. Thomas More Parish in Dalzell. FIxsen said “It is interesting to note this early connection between Cherry and Dalzell, as pictured in the center is Tom Hewitt, apparently a coach or manager on the team. Tom was a famous character in early Cherry and escaped the Cherry Mine Disaster. Both Cherry and Dalzell have the same social and economic roots related to coal mining, European immigrants and the Catholic church/St. Bede. I would greatly appreciate assistance with identifying those in the pictures. Please email any such information to Beth Wenzel at BethAtCHT@hotmail.com or c/o Holy Trinity Cherry, 212 S. Main St., Cherry, IL 61317.”
