Laurie Bitting submitted this photo. She said, “Last summer, we adopted a shelter dog ... just a plain black mixed breed dog. His name at the shelter was Buddy so we kept it the same. My dad, Paul Grieve, comes down to the house each day and he brings each of our outside dogs, a hot dog. Buddy doesn’t get a hot dog but he gets something else. He and my dad play tug-of-war with dad’s work gloves. I’m not sure who enjoys it more, my dad or Buddy. If you have ever thought of getting a shelter dog, I’m not going to sugarcoat it, it can be a struggle because they often come with bad habits and a lot of baggage, but one thing is for sure, they know they have been rescued and they love you for it!”
