PRINCETON — Eight ladies of American Legion Woman’s Auxiliary Unit 125 gathered Feb. 13 to fill 42 treat sacks for the veterans they serve each month in the local nursing homes.

The Valentine-themed sacks were filled with dessert cakes, popcorn, conversations hearts, cookies, fresh fruit and special diet treats. Each sack included a Valentine card made by Kristi Johnson.

“The Unit does the workshop each month as a means of saying ‘thank you’ to the veterans for their service to our country,” said Clara Pease, V&A chairperson.

Monetary donations can be mailed to Clara Pease at 321 Brian Lane, Princeton, IL 61356; or to American Legion Woman’s Auxiliary Unit 125, 1549 W. Peru St., Princeton, IL 61356, Attn: Veterans.
