A stitch in time for quilting
Martha Pattell (left) and Carolyn Schmitt, members of the Covered Bridge Quilters Guild, show two of the many quilts that will be displayed at the guild’s show this weekend at the Bureau County Fairgrounds in Princeton. Show times are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. As part of the weekend event, Mary Serafini, American Quilters’ Society certified appraiser, will be on hand to appraise quilts. As another feature at the weekend show, Mark Fitzgerald of Classic Metal Co. will be at the show to display some of his 1-foot and 2-foot metal quilt squares. Also, Mary Jane Mattingly and Susan Knapp will be featured speakers. Mattingly and Knapp are founders of the “Quilt Branch,” publishers of 11 books and creators of more than 40 quilt patterns. The public is invited to the weekend event.
