Mitchell 'Mick' DeFauw

SHEFFIELD — Mitchell A. “Mick” DeFauw, 83, of Sheffield died Monday, March 11, 2013, at Perry Memorial Hospital in Princeton.

Mick was born April 8, 1929, in Kewanee, the son of Alois and Henrietta (Brate) DeFauw. He graduated from Mineral High School in 1947. Mick married Dorothy Beyn on July 2, 1949, in Sheffield. She died on April 28, 2009. Mick had worked for DeFauw-Beyn Produce, Sheffield Brick Yard, in the Coal Mines in Laura, Ill., Barcol Overdoor in Sheffield and at I. H. Harvester Works in East Moline until retiring in 1983.

He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Sheffield, Knights of Columbus, Sheffield Homecoming Association, Sheffield Rolle Bolle Club and Hidden Lake Men’s Golf League. Mick enjoyed playing cards, especially bieden, and golfing, where he was a member of the Hole in One Club. He enjoyed watching sports, especially basketball. He loved time with his family, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a 30-year cancer survivor.
