Doug and Amy Evenson of Princeton are announcing the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Amanda of Champaign, to James Nelson of Champaign. He is the son of Bill and Lina Nelson of Princeton.

The bride-elect is a 2008 graduate of Princeton High School and received her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Monmouth College in May 2012. She is the 2-year-old lead teacher at Chesterbrook Academy in Champaign.

Her fiancé is a 2005 graduate of Princeton High School. He received an associate in science from Illinois Valley Community College in 2008 and a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from the University of Illinois in 2010. He is a veterinary technology student at Parkland College in Champaign and will graduate in May 2014.

The couple will be married June 22 at St. Matthew’s Church in Princeton.
