Jan Krist and Jim Bizer return to Princeton Coffeehouse
PRINCETON — Michigan singer/songwriters Jan Krist and Jim Bizer will return to the Princeton Coffeehouse at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. They last appeared at the Coffeehouse in 2008.
Krist and Bizer, who both hail from Detroit, met and made music together while still in their teens. While they continue to perform solo, they have become a popular duo in recent years. Krist is a multiple Detroit Music Award winner. Bizer is a 2002 grand prize winner of the Great American Song Contest and a songwriting winner at the Kerrville Folk Festival in Texas.
Working as a guitar teacher in the mid 1970s, Krist met many notable Detroit-based musicians and began playing clubs in the greater Detroit area. Her career really took off in 1993 when she opened for the Ann Arbor Folk Festival and received a standing ovation. She was also signed by Storyville Records and Bob Darden of Billboard Magazine listed her debut release, “Decapitated Society,” as his number one pick of the year. In addition to performing, Krist teaches a yearly songwriting workshop for the Grunewald Guild in Leavenworth, Wash., as well as an online songwriters workshop for Image Journal.
