‘My response to everything’

A Russian atheist astronomer came to America and spoke at one of the universities and said, now folks, either there is a God or there isn’t. Ken Hovind, having attended the conference relates the story. He thought sarcastically, wow, this guy’s brilliant. But then the Russian speaker said the following — both possibilities are frightening. Then Ken thought, wow, now that is brilliant. Ken said, you see, if there is a God we’d better find out who He is and what He wants and do what He says.

My belief is that there is a God. I like asking questions. Did God create the Earth and the universe, or did a big bang from absolutely nothing create and then from disorder produce all the order and complexity and beauty that we see? In response to the second half of the question, at this time it would be OK for you to scratch your head. If there is a God, why is there so much hate in the world? Are there many gods or just one God? I believe there is one God but many religions. Is the God of the Bible allowed in our public schools? And if He is allowed in our public schools, why have we kicked Him out? Did you know the Ten Commandments used to be displayed in our public schools? And did you know that if we go back to the foundation of our country that the Bible was taught in our public schools, and Scripture verses were memorized by our children? Do the things we believe and teach our children matter? Did you have the opportunity to see Benjamin Carson speak at the presidential prayer breakfast? A humble godly man who offers solutions and hope for our countries future. But that involves us being informed and than acting on what we know. I believe Christians and non-Christians alike realize this world is heading into an uncertain future. Yes, Christians know the end of the Book, but Jesus said no one knows the day or hour of His return, and He also said we are to occupy and be busy about His work until He comes. It would be very foolish for anyone to have a mentality of “Eat, drink and be merry for tomorrow we die.” This is no time for anyone to be indifferent. We need to humbly come before God with prayers and petitions, to strive to balance truth and love, to be involved in His kingdom work and to witness to others with words and deeds. For some it would be good if they would come out of their overload mode and find more time to relax and be entertained to some degree. For others it would be good if they had a little less entertainment and spent more time reading good books. In light of my belief in God, that’s my response to everything.
