Connecticut man sentenced to four years in prison

PRINCETON — Richard Jacques, 76, of Canton, Conn., was sentenced to four years in prison after pleading guilty to the Class 2 felony of aggravated criminal sexual abuse.

Jacques entered his guilty plea March 12 before Associate Circuit Judge C. J. Hollerich. In addition to the prison sentence, Jacques was ordered to pay fines, fees and court costs totaling $1,772 from bond posted.

In March 2012, an 11-year-old Bureau County girl reported to her parents that she had been sexually abused by Jacques. After an investigation by the Bureau County Sheriff’s Department and the Department of Children and Family Services, Jacques was indicted on Aug. 15, 2012, for the Class 2 felony. The incident occurred during the summer of 2011 when Jacques visited the victim’s family.

This is Jacques’ first felony conviction.
