Donald Podolak

PRINCETON — Donald Martin Podolak, 66, of Princeton passed away on Sunday, March 17, 2013, at home.
 
He was born on Jan. 7, 1947, in Berwyn to Martin Joseph and Esther Minnie (Nissen) Podolak. He married Diane Dowling on Jan. 22, 1972. in Hinsdale. He graduated from LaGrange Township High School in 1965. He served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam from 1965 to 1968. He received a National Defense Service Medal, a Vietnam Service Medal with two bronze stars, and a Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.
 
Don was an operating engineer in the Local 150. He retired in 1990. He was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Peru. Don was very interested in railroad memorabilia, antique construction equipment and tractors and was a member of Military Vehicle Preservation. He was also involved in the American Legion and Disabled American Veterans.
