Lady Bruins have experience to use, when it gets to use it
PERU — St. Bede softball is coming off of a 21-9 (3-1 NCIC) campaign and looking for more this season as they wait on the weather or a long trip to provide a reasonable playing environment. Most of the starting lineup will have experience backing them up when play finally begins.
“I’ve got seven or eight kids that have actually played quite well the last couple of years. I feel really good about that. It was the last loss that bothered me so much,” second-year head coach Bill Prokup said.
The Bruins will rely heavily on the pitching of senior Lainie Schwieckert, who was 16-6 last season with a 1.47 ERA. She also led her team with a .367 batting average.
