Bureau Valley FFA ‘Grow’-s in agricultural education
MANLIUS — Over the course of a week, the Bureau Valley FFA chapter managed to celebrate the entire history of agricultural education in America. National FFA Week — Feb. 16-23 — centered around the theme of “Grow” – celebrated more than 80 years of FFA traditions while eagerly anticipating the organization’s future.
The Bureau Valley chapter had many activities for all students, regardless of educational background or planned occupation. The goal for this week was to offer an opportunity to develop assertive agricultural leadership, promote the intelligent choice and establishment of an agricultural career, and create a steady supply of young professionals to meet the growing demands of the science, business and technology industry.
The week began on Feb. 18 with FFA members coming to the school board meeting in official dress. The event was geared to show the group’s appreciation for the support received from the district. The school board had the opportunity to sign a proclamation that designated this upcoming week as FFA Week.
