WALNUT — Robert N. Knutson, 92, of Walnut died Tuesday, March 19, 2013. His last moments were spent holding his wife Virginia’s hand, for she was the love of his life.

Robert was born Aug. 1, 1921, in North Dakota to Victor and Thilda (Lee) Knutson.  He married Virginia G. Fristock on March 8, 1950. They celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary this month.

Robert served in the U.S. Army and was a World War II veteran. He enjoyed sharing stories about his travels and time in the war with his grandson Trey. Robert worked at Union Carbide until retirement. After retirement, he  worked as a guard  at C.F. Industries and as a part-time school bus driver. He loved to go on drives with his wife to various riverboat casinos in the surrounding area and bathing in the sun.  He never lost his sense of humor.
