Bishop Hill celebrates with Spring Jubilee
BISHOP HILL — The state historic site of Bishop Hill will begin the 2013 season with kick-off activities on April 6. This is the weekend when we say goodbye to a long winter and get out and enjoy everything anew.
Spring Jubilee will be different this year with just one day of celebrating. Shops, restaurants, galleries and museums will be open for the season and will offer delights certain to be crowd pleasers. Beginning at 10 a.m. there will be a toy tractor display in the Steeple Building. There will be at least 400 pieces of green and red toy farm equipment. There will also be a miniature farm landscape display. The Steeple Building will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on April 6 and 7.
There will be a special opening reception beginning at noon in the VagnHall Galleri featuring George Olson’s botanical water colors and Jeff Goard’s horse hair pottery. George and Jeff will be present to visit with guests. Refreshments will be served. The reception will end at 3 p.m. Then at 4 p.m. event-goers can grab a quick burger next to the Prairie Arts Center to support the Bishop Hill Arts Council.
