PRINCETON — A rural Princeton man died Monday morning from injuries received from a two-vehicle accident on Route 26 about three miles south of Princeton.

Bureau County Coroner Janice Wamhoff said Dale Waugamon, 53, was pronounced dead at 11 a.m. Monday by personnel at Perry Memorial Hospital. He was transported to the hospital by the Princeton Ambulance Department.

Wamhoff said she does not plan to conduct an inquest into Waugamon’s death.

Bureau County Sheriff John Thompson said his department responded to the report of a two-vehicle accident at 9:15 a.m. Monday at 14057 Illinois Route 26. The vehicles were both pick-up trucks, with one truck pulling a trailer.

Thompson said Waugamon was driver of one of the vehicles; Dallas Munson, 26, of Princeton was the driver of the other vehicle. As of press time, Thompson could not confirm if any other persons were transported to the hospital.

Monday morning’s accident appears to have been weather-related, the sheriff said.
