‘The Architecture of Art’ opens Monday
PRINCETON — “The Architecture of Art” will open Monday at the Princeton Public Library and will conclude on April 27.
This is the Princeton Public Library’s fourth annual community art show. This year’s theme, The Architecture of Art: Framing the Imagination, Building by Design, challenged artists to create an artistic statement communicating the construction of their own unique style and personal design sensibility.
Eighteen artists have prepared more than 55 works of art for the 2013 show. Pieces range from painting to sculpture to photography to theatrical design drawings. In addition to the main exhibition, the library will feature a self-guided tour of selected prints from “The Farms of Bureau County” (1970) by Terry Donnelly and Jim Schimmer and original blueprints and plans for the Matson Public Library building from the Princeton Public Library Archives. (Designed by the Chicago architectural firm of Patton & Miller, the Matson Public Library building was dedicated on April 15, 1913).
The public is invited to a reception to meet exhibiting artists and view their work from 6:30 to 8 p.m. April 5. This will coincide with a number of art events across Princeton and should make for a great night of art and socializing.
