Carl Ellberg Jr.

PRINCETON — Carl Casper Ellberg Jr., 81, of Princeton passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2013, with his family by his side.

He was born on June 27, 1931, in Princeton to Carl Casper and Eileen (Swanson) Ellberg Sr. He graduated from Princeton High School in 1950. Carl married Carol Anson in June of 1950. She died in 1978. He then married Terry Huffstodt on Sept. 27, 1980, in the Evangelical Covenant Church. She survives.

He belonged to the Evangelical Covenant Church, Princeton High School Board of Education, Princeton Game & Fish Club, Moose Lodge, Elks Club, Optimists and Jaycees. Carl owned and operated Ellberg Plumbing and Heating from 1962 to 2008, retiring from everyday work in 1993.

Carl was a loving husband, devoted father, cherished Papa and an amazing friend. He always found time to attend each of his grandchildren's numerous activities, plus he enjoyed hunting, fishing and the great outdoors. He lived life to the fullest and was generous to all.

Carl is survived by his wife of 32 years, Terry; his children, Patty (Jerry) McDonald of Chandler, Ariz., Diane (Scott) Palubiak of Richfield, Ohio, Danny (Paula) Ellberg of Princeton, Terri (Rick) Haas of Metamora, Michael (Connie) Jensen of Great Falls, Mont., and Marla Jensen of Princeton; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Nellie (Ralph) Martin of Princeton.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Carol (Anson) Ellberg; and one sister, Feye (Ellberg) Perez.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Evangelical Covenant Church with the Rev. Derek C. Boggs officiating. Burial will follow in Elm Lawn Memorial Park, Princeton.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Norberg Memorial Home, Princeton.

In lieu of flowers, donation can be made to the Evangelical Covenant Church or Happy Hands Preschool, 24 N. Main St., Princeton, IL 61356.
